This artwork was presented during the Moving Artists‘ residency program.
In this artwork the question is presented “find the difference” Just like the games that hide tricky spots to be highlighted. Sure enough if you get close with the installation it will be clear that there are differences. tine over eyes shadows little hair curls and even a bit of muscle movement. But as you take a step back. the most obvious answer becomes the Hijab that is present and it is not in the other.
Here the question goes beyond the idea of visual and subtle differences and becomes more about the person. Will the presence or the lack of a fabric actually entice difference in how we perceive someone? Or should it in any way give us assumptions of the person’s intentions.
This artwork creates discourse that is present in both environment of the residency and its two ways of presumption when it comes to people who wear or do not wear a Hijab.
